Tips and Techniques to Improve your Nature Photography.

Each type of photography has its challenges and its rewards - turning nature photos into fine art is just one of them. During this weekend workshop we'll review some techniques and hopefully add some visual tools to your landscape, nature and wildlife capturing skills. By starting with a review of the compositional guidelines, then adding unique perspectives, and then challenging you with visual assignment, we'll have to trying out some new things. In the field shooting is so much more successful when you can participate in discussions, ask questions, see examples and then go out and practice. To wrap it up we will critique some of your results so you can continue to improve each time you go shooting.Photography landscapes and more

Darrell will share his knowledge of shooting landscapes with us at Minneopa State Park. This will be a weekend long camping trip just outside of Mankato, MN. We have reserved a group camp site for us to use. The word Minneopa comes from the Dakota language and is interpreted to mean "water falling twice," referring to the beautiful waterfalls of the Minneopa Creek. Walk the trail which encircles the falls, leading down a limestone stairway to the valley below. Ascend the opposite side and enjoy a panoramic view of the valley which reveals the underlying geology of this area. Visit Seppmann Mill, a wind driven grist mill fashioned in German style from native stone and lumber, or hike through oak savanna and native prairie grasslands overlooking the scenic Minnesota River Valley. Also visit the bison herd that lives at the park.
